Issue identified
In the group, I was able to identify a group member who had an issue of overconfidence.
The problem that resulted from her overconfidence is that she played little attention to the
guidelines provided by the team leader. So, mostly, she would make few avoidable mistakes if
she followed the provided guidelines as required. Mostly when working as a group, gaining the
influence of the followers improves task performance and productivity. In the case of the
identified group member, she was hard to direct because she was way overconfident and thought
that she knew how to go about problems. As a result, she barely focused on improving
performance or even asking whenever she thought she was not sure. That led to him making few
mistakes that she could have avoided.
The first situation that she expressed the issue was when the group had a meeting to share
the progress of their project. Every person in the group had been assigned a team role and they
needed to report the progress. Every member was able to express their thoughts and the
challenges that she faced in the performance of their task. The overconfident member was having
issues but failed to accept that she was having a problem with her tasks. So, instead of asking for
guidance from other team members and the leader, she did what she thought was okay. On the
finalizing of the project, she had not completed it. Another situation she expressed her
overconfidence was, she believed that since she knew that she was fast in performing, she took a
project that had a fixed deadline to meet. Whenever other members insisted on helping, she
decided she could handle it, but on meeting the deadline, she was half the project. In the two
situations, she expressed her issue of overconfidence which compromised the productivity of the
team.
GROUP LEADERSHIP 3
The character of overconfidence expresses the thoughts of being better than other team
members. As observed, as people were sharing challenges that they met during their task
performance, she could not say her challenges. At the end of the session, she did not do the work
as required and more instructions were not followed as required by the leader. Therefore, Jerry
and Marianne Corey employed different leadership skills and techniques to help members
deepen their focus. By ensuring that people were aware of each team member, the group
members were able to identify the issues and the challenges of each member and help when it
was important.
The leadership practices, principles, and skills
The leadership principles observed in the two programs were the leader is a good
example to the members. As a leader is always important to show the way that others need to
follow to achieve the expected outcomes. Focusing on change, Jerry and Marianne Corey
focused on personal and team improvement by speaking out, sharing feelings, and actively
participating in the activities. Humans are likely to make mistakes but through sharing, they
correct each other and improve the overall teamwork. Further, another principle demonstrated is
understanding the value of good listening (Prasad, 2020). Listening in leadership is important
which means focusing on thoughts, feelings, and complaints brought by team members. After
listening the leaders gets solutions that improve team’s focus. Also, through the group, it was
clear that working together achieves more than working alone. Through interpersonal learning
observed from the program, members can acquire more knowledge and change for the best.
Also, sharing out help improve each other's and appreciate each other. Through the value of
working together, the group achieves more at a personal and team level.
GROUP LEADERSHIP 4
The skills demonstrated include self-development, team development, creativity, and
strategic thinking (Prasad, 2020). As a leader, focusing on self and the members’ development is
key. Through the therapeutic activities and sharing each other’s ‘experiences, the members were
able to learn from each other and develop their knowledge. Resulting in self-development. The
overall activities were to develop the team and bring more trust among them. Through trust, each
member is aware that the other person will do the best in achieving the set goals of the group.
Similarly, that was the case in the program since members had improved trust in the group and
each other. As a result, they were able to articulate their feelings and thoughts to the group. Also,
the way the leader demonstrates self and team development show creativity. Creativity, in this
case, is demonstrated where different methods are applied apart from what other leaders would
consider. More importantly, the choice of these methods matched the activities in the program
which shows strategic thinking.
The major leadership practices observed were challenging the process, enabling members
to act (Silva et al., 2017). To challenge the process, leaders learn and educate members through
difficult situations. So as the leaders shared their experiences, they were able to improve
knowledge and challenge the process. Leaders do not focus on achieving everything by
themselves. For that reason, they train and equip the members with the knowledge to perform as
expected. So the outcome of the group activity was every member's effort. The leaders were also
able to encourage the heart of flowers by recognizing team contributions and trusting each other.
All the skills, practices, and principles demonstrated in the program were of great help in
achieving positive therapeutic results.

New insights as an emerging group leader from the perspective of a biblical worldview.
As an emerging leader, I see myself through the Biblical worldview inspired by Jesus
Christ as a leader of Christianity. Through the works and the followers of Christ, He was able to
create influence on the leader because of His actions. First, He led by example which is a great
inspiration for leadership strategies in the future. The flowers need to be guided in the right way
so that they also develop the expected behavior to achieve desired results. For instance, in case I
will lead a firm and we want to increase sales, I will demonstrate the right strategies for different
teams to follow, particularly the marketing group to create awareness and attract more
customers. In the Bible, Jess did not blindly lead the disciples but he lived in what He taught
them. So, He was a true demonstration of leading as an example. Also, showing compassion and
willingness to help the followers was a value that Jesus valued in His ministry. Through
compassion shown to the disciples, they improved their trust and willingly followed what they
were expected to do. I would also show the same compassion through understanding their
problem, fears, and thoughts in a lot of the activities entrusted to them. As they open up on the
challenges and the thoughts about their activities. As a leader, I will be able to trust them and
also believe they will trust me. A group without trust may not have optimal performance.
